How it works

Start to finish.

Every step from your first message to your site being live, including the handful of small things I will need from you. Nothing here is a surprise later.

Stage one

Before you pay anything.

You see a real design before any money changes hands. If you do not like it, we shake hands and that is that.

1

You get in touch

Tell me what your business does and roughly what you are after. A few lines is plenty.

2

I send a fixed price

One number, agreed up front, so there is nothing to work out later. No obligation.

3

I build you a free example

A real concept using your own branding, not a stock template with your name dropped in. You look at it and decide.

Stage two

If you go ahead.

4

You say yes

I send you my terms and you reply to confirm. Then half the build cost, and I start properly.

5

I build the real thing

Your words, your photos, your colours. Two rounds of changes are included, so you get to say what is wrong and I fix it.

6

It goes live

The second half is due once the site is finished. If I am hosting it, that is when it goes live on your own address. If you are taking the site to host yourself, the full folder of files is sent over as soon as the balance is paid. Most sites are done within one to two weeks.

Your part

The bits I need from you.

I do everything I can myself. There are four things I genuinely cannot do on your behalf, because they belong to you and not to me. None takes more than a couple of minutes, and I will tell you when each one is coming.

A

Your words and photos

The one that actually takes a bit of thought. A paragraph about the business, a few lines about what you do, and any photos you have. If writing is not your thing, send me bullet points and I will shape them.

Half an hour, once

B

A code for your contact form

Enquiries from your site go straight to your inbox, never through me. I set that up using your email address, and the form provider emails you a short code to prove the address is yours. Forward me that email and I will finish it off.

Ten seconds

C

A mailing list account, if you want one

Your subscriber list needs to belong to you rather than to me, so the account has to be opened in your name. It is free, and you sign up with an email and a password. Send me the code it gives you for adding a signup box to a website, and I connect it, brand it to match and set up your welcome email.

Three minutes

D

Access to your Google listing

On the fully managed plan I look after the listing people see when they search for you. Google only lets the owner hand that over, so you add me as a manager from your side. Two clicks, and you can remove me any time you like.

Two minutes

Everything else is handled by me: the build, the hosting, the domain, the certificate, the backups and the fiddly technical bits nobody should have to think about. Worth saying plainly, because people ask: your domain name is registered in your name and you are the legal owner of it. I look after it while you are on a plan, and if you ever leave, it goes with you.

Afterwards

Once it is live.

If you are on one of the monthly plans, this is what carries on happening without you asking.

Changes when you need them

New prices, new photos, changed opening hours. You send me a message and I do it.

The boring things handled

Your domain renews on time, your security certificate stays valid, and your site gets backed up. You never have to think about any of it.

A real person to ask

No ticket system and no call centre. You message me and I answer.

You can leave whenever you like with one month's notice, and the site is yours to take with you.

Get in touch

Tell me what you need.

Send me a line about your business and what you are after, and I will come back with a free, no obligation quote by email. No jargon, no pressure, and you see the first design before you are committed to anything.
